Hello, I’m Sarah and I have been house sitting for the past five years. If you are new to this, let me give you a brief explanation of what I do. As a house sitter I stay in your home while you are away: looking after your pets; keeping the home clean; and providing the security of a lived-in house whilst you are away. A change of routine can be stressful for your pet and getting to stay in their own home while having the attention of a loving pet sitter makes all the difference as opposed to traditional pet care alternatives like kennels or catteries.

I started house sitting in university and since completing my degree in June 2018 I have used the freedom this job has given me to set up an art business (you can see my work on my Instagram here) write my first novel (which I am almost ready to publish!) and teach English and creative writing online – all of my jobs allow me to work around your pets’ routines and hang out with them during the day.
My house sitting experience is extensive. I sometimes take care of more than ten animals at once, and have looked after cats, dogs, tortoises, doves and chickens! The main animals I am hired to care for are dogs and cats. Please do not hesitate to contact me if your dog has some behavioural issues – I specialise in ‘particular’ dogs, and we can meet up a few times prior to a longer sit to make sure that your pet is comfortable and you are comfortable with me caring for them.

My partner, Jack, has joined me in house sitting for the past three years. Although he does not work as a house sitter (the pets are fully my responsibility) he is just as tidy, pet-loving and respectful as I am. He also works as an online tutor so this lifestyle suits us both perfectly. When we first get in contact you will meet both Jack and me, either on a video call or in real life if possible, and I can provide references for him, plus his passport details and a DBS check, to put your mind at ease. To put it simply: while I look after the pets, he looks after me!
